These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of TenantPlug (“TenantPlug”, “we”, “us”). By accessing or using TenantPlug, you agree to these Terms.

Note: This is a strong starter Terms page, but get legal review before going live especially around payments, NDPR responsibilities, liability limits, and dispute resolution.

1. Who This Is For

TenantPlug is for landlords, agents, and property managers who want to track rent, manage tenant records, send reminders, and generate reports. Example: a property manager managing 25 units uses TenantPlug to send monthly reminders and download receipts.

2. Account Registration

  • You must provide accurate information and keep it updated.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • You are responsible for activities under your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse TenantPlug. Examples of prohibited actions include:

  • Using the platform for fraud, harassment, or illegal activity
  • Uploading malicious code, exploiting vulnerabilities, or attempting unauthorized access
  • Sending spam messages to tenants (e.g., marketing blasts unrelated to rent)
  • Violating privacy or data protection laws

4. Tenant Data & Compliance

If you upload tenant or guarantor data, you confirm you have a lawful basis to collect and use it. You are responsible for notices and consents required by law. Example: before enabling WhatsApp reminders, ensure tenants have agreed to be contacted.

5. Payments, Billing & Fees

  • Plans: some features require a paid subscription (Professional, Business, Enterprise).
  • Provider fees: payment processors may charge transaction fees. TenantPlug may also charge platform fees as disclosed on your plan.
  • Trials: if a trial is offered, it may end automatically unless you subscribe.
  • Non-payment: we may suspend or limit access if billing fails, after reasonable notice.

6. Service Availability

We aim for reliable uptime, but the service may be unavailable occasionally due to maintenance, updates, or third-party outages. Example: an SMS provider outage may delay reminders.

7. Third-Party Services

TenantPlug may integrate with third parties (payment gateways, SMS/WhatsApp providers, email services). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms.

8. Intellectual Property

  • TenantPlug and its software, branding, and design are owned by TenantPlug.
  • You retain ownership of the data you upload (tenant lists, lease details, payment records).
  • You grant us permission to host and process your data to provide the service.

9. User Content & Templates

You are responsible for any content you generate (messages, notices, receipt notes, templates). Example: if you write a lease notice template, you are responsible for its accuracy and legality.

10. Termination

  • You may stop using TenantPlug at any time.
  • We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if required by law.
  • Upon termination, you may request export of your data (where available).

11. Disclaimer

TenantPlug is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not provide legal, tax, or financial advice. Example: receipts and reports are helpful tools, but your accountant should confirm tax filing requirements.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TenantPlug will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid to TenantPlug in the 3 months before the event giving rise to the claim (or ₦0 if you are on a free plan).

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold TenantPlug harmless from claims arising out of your use of the service, your content, or your violation of laws (including privacy laws). Scenario: if you upload tenant data you had no right to collect, you are responsible for resulting claims.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we will post the updated version and update the effective date.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
